  1. Two consecutive stations define a split, e.g. station 1 and station 2 define split 2. Change in elevation refers to a specific split and is calculated as the difference between the elevation of two successive stations. For instance the change in elevation during split 6 is the difference between station 5 and station 6, i.e. 250–230 = 20 m
